1964 to the present
Communications Associates was formed in 1964 and based near the Exe Bridges in the city of Exeter, Devon, England. The factory occupied the site next to the station at St Thomas.
The C108 pager was the first main product. The picture shows the circuit board - note that the radio section takes up most of the space.
The inside of the Aquarius pager shows how the latest techniques have reduced the size. The components are now surface mounted.
The company subsequently moved to Water Lane but a fire damaged the factory and, in 1968, it was moved to Bridford Road.
In 1983 the world's first alphanumeric display pager, type 9010, was designed in the company's research laboratory.
The Company became part of the Blick Group in 1977 and Blick Communications was born.
Further advances were made and the factory became too small to handle the growth in business and the move to its current address was made in 1989.
The product line includes some of the most sophisticated radio communications equipment available anywhere in the world.
Another world first, in 2002 ADEPT was launched. Blick ADEPT is a revolutionary range of systems that uses digital technology to provide fast, reliable two-way messaging, alarms, staff protection and evacuation solutions across one or more sites. |
