Set out below are the most popular questions that we get asked about this product.
Q. I work in a library and I need to be alerted silently when visitors arrive, can you do that?
A. Yes, The APG1 pager is available fitted with a vibrating mechanism and the pager can be put into silent alert mode so that the LED and the Vibrator operate but the bleeper doesn't.
Q. How do I know that a pager is in the charging-rack and that the user is not available?
A. The ARA Aquarius Charging-rack is available in a version which gives an "Absence" signal back to the encoder i.e. when a pager, which is in the charging-rack, is paged a message appears on the encoder saying that the pager is unavailable and is in the rack.
Q. I know that the Aquarius AEN2 encoder has 4 remote contacts that I can use but can I have more than that?
A. Yes, a 010775 Remote input card adds another 16 inputs. This can be programmed with the inpute state needed, the pager number to be called, message, bleep tone and priority and connects to the AEN2. For a single card this can be houseed in a AEX-S single expansion box or the AEX-T Expansion box can house up to 3 cards.
Q. I would like to be able to call a pager using my telephone system, can I?
A. Yes, the AEN2 encoder can be fitted with an 010580 telephone interface card. This allows the encoder to be plugged into an extension on the PABX. When that extension is called the encoder answers and guides the caller through the process of sending a paging call.
Q. I have an APG1 pager, how do I know what code it is?
A. Press and hold the middle button, the LCD will show IC followed by the 5 digit pager code, e.g. IC12345.
Q. I have some deaf employees and I need to alert them to fire alarms etc.? Do you have a product we can use?
A. Yes, the Aquarius and ADEPT range are available with a vibrating alert.
Q. I have different groups of people who use pagers. Is there any way I can identify whose pager is whose?
A. Yes, Coloured pagers are available. For people who belong to two Groups two-coloured pagers are available.
Q. I have Aquarius pagers which currently use AA sized disposeable batteries, for environmental reasons, we would like to use re-chargeable batteries. Can we?
A. Yes, rechargeable batteries can be used and either recharge the battery in an external charger, BCL part number 011520000 or normally the pager can be charged in a Aquarius charging rack (contact BCL Technical Support on +44 1392 204100 to confirm).
Q. The display on my APG1/ APG2/ APG7 pager is blank, what do I do?
A. Likely cause is a flat battery. The battery door is located on the bottom of the pager, slide the door across and either replace the battery with a fresh alkaline battery, (AA size), or if the battery is a rechargeable version locate a charging rack and allow the pager to charge for at least 16 hours. Do not attempt to charge an alkaline battery. User Manuals are available from individual product pages.
Q. The display on my AP4/ APG8 pager is blank, what do I do?
A. Likely cause is a flat battery. The APG4/ APG8 series are fitted with rechargeable batteries. Locate a charging rack and allow the pager to charge for at least 16 hours. User Manuals are available from individual product pages.
Q. How do I program my Aquarius series pager?
A. Before proceeding you will need the User Manual for your encoder and your pager. User Manuals are available from individual product pages.
Q. I want to call a group of pagers with the same message, how do I do this?
A. You need to program your pagers in to Groups. You can have up to six different groups, refer to the section on programming Groups in the User Manual. User Manuals are available from individual product pages.
Q. I have an Aquarius Paging system. Is it possible to connect, say, a door-bell push, to the system so that a pager, or group of pagers, are alerted when the door-bell push is pressed?
A. Yes, The AEN2 encoder has 4 remote inputs that can be used for this purpose, refer to the AEN2 User Manual section on how to set up the remote contact inputs. If you require more than 4 inputs the system can be expanded by use of a Remote Contact card. User Manuals are available from individual product pages.
Q. I have an AEN0 system with an integral transmitter, is it possible to increase the coverage by using an external transmitter?
A. Yes, the AEN0 can use an external transmitter. Using an external aerial with the integral transmitter can also increase the coverage.
Q. I have a Blick Aquarius Paging system with a single AEN2 encoder and I would like to be able to send calls from a different part of the building, is this possible?
A. Yes, you can add extra slave encoders to your existing AEN2. You can also add a telephone interface to allow paging calls to be sent from any telephone extension on your PABX.
Q. How can I call DR100/ 200 pagers as well as APG1s from an Blick Aquarius Paging system with an AEN2 encoder?
A. You will need to set up an AFSK range on the encoder. Refer to the section on how to select the range of identity codes for AFSK pagers in the AEN2 User Manual. The transmitter has to be capable of switching between speech and data modes (not possible with DX500 and AEN2s with integral transmitters) User Manuals are available from individual product pages.
Q. My Aquarius pager doesn't bleep when I send it a call from the encoder, why?
A. Several reasons are possible. Call another pager to see if the system is working, if it doesn't, check the transmitter, it may have been switched off. Check that the number called is the number of the pager, to do this press and hold the middle button until ICXXXXX appears , where XXXXX is the pager number.
Q. My pager has been repaired but it is no longer called by the Nursecall system?
A. If it is a Blick Nursecall system refer to the section in the AEN2G User Manual for configuring your pager to the system. For non-Blick Nursecall it may be that the Nursecall system calls a particular pager number or pager group. If there are other pagers on the system and they are all called by the Nursecall system, then the Nursecall system calls a Group, refer to the section on programming Groups in the pager User Manual. If the Nursecall system calls just one pager and the number isn't known, you will need to put the pager into the "OPEN" mode, refer to the pager User Manual or download a copy on how to do this. With the pager on "OPEN" send a call from the Nursecall system, the pager will display 3 characters followed by the code. Use this to program the pager.
